Sister Hinkler's

And, so we will never forget this place--Sister Hinkler on Knoyle Road--I just have to take a couple of pictures of her house and her garden, etc. This was one of our favorite people here in Erie, and we will truly miss this place and the lovely gentle woman who lives here

On Saturday, the 22nd we took the YSA up to Warren, Pa, to the Foster family homestead. They own a considerable amount of land and have made "orchard camp" for the Young women camp in the summer. This area is also used by various families and scouts, etc throughout the spring, summer and fall. They bring in port-a-potties for the girls camp . This is one of the picnic areas
Here are some of the YSA who were helping to clear the area of logs, tree limbs etc. As you can see on the left, a pile of logs There is a path/road up the middle which is marked off by logs along the way.

This is one of the platforms that they use to put the big tents for the girls camp. We were supposed to seal these platforms, but we were working in the rain to clean up the place and no sun in sight. So that will have to be a project for another day.

Transfers again!! May 18, 2010

Well, here it is Thursday already and the month is almost gone. As of tuesday we now have only 6 more weeks to serve here in Erie. We have decided to come back up on the 29th after eating the traditional dinner with the Mission President and missionaries returning to their homes. We are beginning to send out packages to home and get things packed here. We plan to spend Memorial Day weekend in Big run with Joe and Rose, so will take some boxes down at that time. Now on to the present- - - - - -This is Elder Mendenhol who is now going to Clearfield to be the companion of Elder Cluff, who is a neighbor of Wendi there in Mesa. We served with him when he was in Meadville and thought he was an OK missionary, so... . . . . . I thought that his mother might want to have this passed on to The Cluffs!! . . . . as a FYI
AND this is our Elder Burnett who will the last elder transferred into Erie while we are here. He had labored up in Jamestown Stake before and so we know him a little and have grown to love him very much. He will be a great asset to Erie!!

Tammie wanted to see the roses opening, so I am going to post them daily so she can enjoy them too. The little bouquet is from Sis Hinkler in our ward. She is so special to give me flowers.

YSA Kirtland trip 8 May '10

Okey, so these pictures are out of order, again, but I wanted to show you the happy crew we went to Blustery, windy Kirtland today. It was quite an experience for all of us. 6 kids 2 leaders. Early Mothers day

It is hard to believe that I have been a mother for over 40 years!! One of the perks for the job, is receiving some precious things from my children. They always seem to know what will make me happy. Well, yesterday, I was having a terrible day with meneirs and while I was laying on the bed I heard the doorbell ring. Dad answered the door and brought me in a package from Kelli. These wonderful smelling body lotion from Bath Works. What a nice thing!! It made my day, Kelli
Then this afternoon the bell rings again and this big box came from proflower and these beautiful tulips. They are from Tammie and the boys. thanx. They are beautiful!!

And there was a box of chocolates inside the box too. Chocolates and flowers. how blessed can one Mother be?? Thanks for all the great surprises!!

Well, here we are in May and things are really popping. This is one of the many lilac bushes that is blooming now. There are white ones, too, big ones, little ones and tons of all of them. Pennsylania is truly beautiful and green and colorful this time of year. We travel a lot and are fortunate to have a good vehicle, dependable and such. Today we are going out to visit some of the members we have not seen for a while. Many are sick and unable to come out to church so if we don't visit they don't see anyone. The two wards we work with in institute are getting some one to take our place so hopefully some of that burden will lift soon. This Saturday we are going with the YSA to Kirtland. We are looking forward to that as that is one place we have learned to love. Will post more later
Yesterday we had district meeting and then all of us packed into our cars and headed out to Quaker Steak and Lube to have wings. This was the first time that the buffet had the kind that Dad orders, so he went to the buffet today with the elders, who, of course ate there so they could get as much as they wanted to eat. One of the Elders, Tranton, is having some of his family come through Erie on Monday so he wanted to see if this was a place he could meet them for lunch. How fun will that be to see family after a year out!!

So, of course we had to get pictures of everyone at the "cut outs" Can you guess who this is??
