Last evening we were invited to dinner at Sister Hinkler's home and she showed us this beautiful bouquet of flowers that she had gotten out of her garden. Of course we oohed and aahed over them. Well, they invited us to play some dominoes with them, so we did. Then when it was time to go home, she got the vase of flowers and handed them to us and said they were for us. The big ones are dinner plate delphiniums.Aren't they amazing?? Of course, she also gave us some of the leftovers from the meal, including a loaf of home made bread (which of course is Elder Lindblom's favorite) She had made the meal from her garden produce--homemade potato salad, with green beans in it--a home grown lettuce salad with tomatoes, etc
Now,, these next pictures are of things at Sister Fuller's house.She had the elders and us over for "brunch" and fixed us the most amazing omelets and french toast!! She is always making something and changing her house. She took all 17 doors of her cupboards down and put this new design on them. Little vine with gingerbread men climbing the tree. They are dressed with chef hat and aprons and carrying little baking tools.

She also makes new curtains for her kitchen about every other week. They are always so cute and cheery If you look closely you will see that these are her "laundry" curtains with little things on them that are used in the laundry room.

And of course the valances and you can also see the border that she has painted above the curtains.

These next couple of pictures are of the birdhouse tree that she has on her back porch. I want one of these and they may be able to get me the tree branch so Elder Lindblom can make it for me when we get home. Won't those little birdhouses that I have look great on one of these??

Now, she also paints Indian things and she painted and decorated part of her house with these.Did I tell you that they are both avid hunters and a lot of the fur things you see in her house are things that they killed and tanned themselves and made them into interesting things for decorating their home??

Today we went to Pittsburgh for transfers. We took these three missionaries with us. Elder Keith was going down to pick up a new green companion. He is the District leader and now trainer.. Elder Keith is going home and Elder Bernal was to be transferred. He went to York, Pa which was part of the Harrisburg mission, now PPM I don't know if you can see the sign in the background, but they talked us into going to this restaurant. It is very well known and so we wanted t have a taste of Pennsylvania's best Primanti's Brothers sandwiches. I also got a bottle of Rootbeer and kept the bottle as a souvenier.

Hill Cummorah Pagent

This was a bonus!! My best friend, Connie Patterson was visiting her son Duane in York Pa and they drove up to see the pagent on the same night that our Young Single Adults were there. So, we thought, maybe we can find them. Guess what!! We walked right past them and what a surprise!! We sat with them for the performance, which was AWESOME!!
I found out later we were not to take pictures, oh well, this is a good one, though

OUR FAMILY

July 18, 1969 Gramma Lindblom took me into the Southside Hospital once located on main street by what is now Pete's Fish and Chip. The doctor came in and checked me on his way to his office and I just waited until he returned about noon and broke my water. Gramma stayed with me, and I told her I needed to go to the bathroom, so I got up at 2:15 and just barely made it back to the bed, when the cleaning lady said, I think she needs a nurse. so the nurse came in and checked me and there was a hairy little head--at 2:48 p.m our little (6 pounds 3 ounces) dark haired, fair skinned, little girl was born!! Her daddy was in Vietnam and Gramma sent out a telegram via the red cross to let him know he was once more a daddy!! I wrote a letter that very day and it arrived before the Red Cross message, so that tells us something, right?? Thank goodness for Aunt JoAnn and Uncle Barry who were taking care of Wendi!! Michelle was such a perfect little baby--one who sleeps and eats when she is supposed to!! The first night home from the hospital, Gramma Lindblom stayed with us. Michelle got up once through the night to eat and then went right back to sleep. The next morning Gramma said "This is such a good baby, I won't be needed here" so it is a good thing Michelle behaved well!!! When she was about 2 weeks old Gramma Buterbaugh came out for a few days to help out. It was wonderfull having her visit and get to hold and take care of our little girls and to be with me!!

I am so grateful for the blessings of being a mother of 7 little girls!!! They each have been a blessing to me!! And that "boy", what can I say ??? He is very special to me!!

June 1829. Oliver Cowdery, David Whitmer, and Martin Harris wanted to know if they were to be the Three Witnesses spoken of in the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith inquired through the Urim and Thummim

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized in the Peter Whitmer home at Fayette, New York, on April 6, 1830, at the Lord's command. Joseph Smith had come to stay at the Whitmer home in June 1829 to escape persecution in Pennsylvania. Within a month of his arrival, the Prophet completed the Book of Mormon translation, the angel Moroni showed the golden plates to the Three Witnesses, and the Lord revealed procedures for establishing His Church.
On April 6, about 60 friends and family members crowded into the 20-by-30-foot home to witness the organization of what was then called the Church of Christ. Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery were sustained as the first and second elders in the Church. On that occasion, they offered prayers, blessed and passed the sacrament, and received divine revelation. Following the service, several in attendance were baptized, including the Prophet's parents.
Joseph received many revelations while living at the Whitmer home. The first three conferences of the Church were held here, and missionaries were sent from this place to the western frontier of the United States, baptizing many people in Ohio and some in Missouri.
In 1831, the Whitmers moved to Ohio. The Church purchased 100 acres of the Whitmer farm in 1926. The Whitmer home was rebuilt on its original site and dedicated in 1980 by President Spencer W. Kimball.

As you can tell, the Whitmer house was much larger than the log cabin the Smith family lived in.

Sacrament meeting at the sacred grove

This morning was beautiful, and at 8:30 we met at the entrance to the sacred grove and in a little clearing where seats were placed, we held a sacrament meeting. It is interesting, if you look that there is a tree stump just right for the sacrament table. Two elders knelt here and gave the sacrament prayers and we were all a part of it
