Another beautiful spring picture in Kirtland

These are the pictures we took the first visit to Kirtland. This is in the waiting room for the video that is shown about Joseph Smith arriving to Kirtland. This picture, of course is the building of the temple. It is beautiful and takes up a lot of space on the wall.

This is the creek where many of the people were baptized. apparently they dammed it up until the water was deep enough.

bedroom where Joseph and Emma slept. Only original piece of furniture is the chair against the wall other things are copies of furniture, etc
canopy bed This is not a very long bed and Joseph was no doubt uncomfortable
baby cradle with lead baby bottle--no wonder babies got sick, right?

Just as you enter Whitney's store there is a little area where men would sit and visit and play checkers with these checkers made out of corn cobs
part of the merchandise in the store I posted the saws on the wall before
This is the yardage shelf in the main store room. The cloth came in bolds of 9 yards, thus the saying "do you want the whole 9 yards?
This is threads, cloth and shoes. I think I told you before that the shoes were neither left or right

This is the room right at the top of the stairs from the welfare room. This is the original table where Joseph would sit to translate the Bible
This is the welfare room. Bishop Whitney gave out foods for people in need

This is the room where they met as "School of the Prophets" Where they first heard about the word of wisdom--Emma had to clean up the tobacco spitting after their meetings and she had Joseph go to the Lord about the matter!!

just outside of the ashery--these are leaching vats

Into these vats the ashes were put and then leached by water to produce a lye minture which
